Introducing ETD’s new HACCP Principles Level 2 Course

ETD is  pleased to announce the release of our HACCP Principles Level 2 Course, which provides training for companies in the UK to work safely with food. The training delves into topics like the legal requirements for food businesses, Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), the concepts that underpin a HACCP system and the inherent benefits of such a system. This course has been approved by CPD and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

‘We currently offer Food Safety Level 2 training for the catering sector. Now, we offer more in-depth training for food establishments so they can work with food more safely,’ says ETD’s Managing Director Phil Gutteridge. ‘We will look to offer more food-related courses in the future, but we already have a good basis of training for the food preparation establishments within the UK.’

What is a Food Safety Management System?

All food businesses are legally required to ensure that the food they handle, produce or sell is safe for public consumption. To achieve this, companies must implement an FSMS, a set of processes and standards tailored to direct and control all aspects of food safety. Companies must base their FSMS on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).

What is HACCP?

HACCP refers to a method that helps organisations manage food safety. In brief, this internationally recognised FSMS identifies Critical Control Points (CCP) that are essential to food safety during food preparation and production. The system also implements control measures to ensure food is safe for consumption.

HACCP is a proactive approach to food safety that seeks to identify and eradicate hazards before they occur. (Hazards can be anything microbiological, chemical or physical that pose a threat to the production of safe food.) In simple terms, HACCP involves identifying what could go wrong in a food system and planning how to prevent such events.

ETD explores FSMS, HACCP and a multitude of other food safety concepts in its Level 2 HACCP Principles Course.
