Asbestos was commonly used in construction up until the year 2000 because of its strength and thermal insulation properties. It is one of the most dangerous materials ever used in building construction and one that if disturbed or left in a poor condition, can cause life threatening illnesses. Asbestos is the UK's number one killer for workplace deaths, one that causes thousands of deaths every year.
Who the course is aimed at:
This course is targeted primarily at anyone who may come into contact with Asbestos as part of their job. Traditionally this could typical tradespeople such as builders, plumbers, electricians, carpenters and building maintenance professionals, anyone that performs any sort of fixing, installations or demolitions in buildings constructed before the year 2000.
All work with asbestos containing materials falls under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Under these regulations employers must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is provided to employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos. The regulations also applies to maintenance workers and others who in undertaking their job may come in to contact with asbestos.

Test and Certification:
At the end of the course you will be given a test of 20 multiple choice questions. The required pass rate is 85%.
You will be able to download and print (if required) a digital certificate on completion of the course.
Main course certificates last 12 months.
